McKayla Louks

Hi, my name is McKayla! I grew up in Southern Minnesota on a cattle farm with my two brothers, where my love for animals began at an early age. I always knew I wanted to work with animals — while I initially dreamed of working with large animals, I quickly discovered that small animals held a special place in my heart.

I earned my Associate’s degree in Veterinary Technology from Ridgewater College in Willmar, MN. After graduating, I moved to Bemidji in 2020 and began my internship at Bemidji Veterinary Hospital. Shortly after completing it, I was offered a full-time position, and I’ve loved being part of the BVH team for the past 5 years.

My husband and I share our home with two dogs, five cats, and a whole lot of pigs! When I’m not at work, you’ll usually find me spending time with my daughter, working on the farm, or relaxing with some crocheting.
