Providing Excellent Treatment and Care of Exotic Pets

Your pet may be exotic, but its needs are everyday matters of quality pet care for Bemidji Veterinary Hospital.

Pocket pets, reptiles, birds, rabbits, and other small animals all benefit from the care we can provide. Treatment of sick exotics and spaying or neutering of rabbits are just a couple of examples of how our staff treats and cares for exotic pets on a regular basis.

Tips for Responsible Exotic Pet Owners

  • Small pets—Hamsters, gerbils, and guinea pigs can make gentle and docile pets for busy families with children. However, it is important to research the special care these small animals may need.
  • Birds—Parakeets, cockatiels, cockatoos, and other species all have specific requirements. From cage setup to food intake, these birds need you to know how to care for them.
  • Rabbits—A bunny can be a very social and affectionate house pet. If cared for correctly, they can live 10 or more years.
  • Reptiles—These amazing animals require owners to have special knowledge for household pet success. Tank size and temperature are critical for a reptile.
