Meet the Bemidji Veterinary Hospital Staff
Dr. Andrew Piller
Dr. Andrew Piller, the practice owner, graduated from Wartburg College in 1992. While enrolled at Wartburg he studied tropical parasites for a semester at the foot of Mount Kilimanjaro in Tanzania, Africa. He is a 1998 graduate from Iowa State University- College of Veterinary Medicine. As a vet student he studied tuberculosis in Kruger National Park, South Africa. He was involved in elephant relocation projects and lion capture. He moved to Bemidji in 1998 and continues to be passionate about helping pets in the area.
Dr. Vickie Wang
Dr. Vickie Wang comes from Fertile, Minnesota. She graduated with her Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine from the University of Minnesota in 1993. She has a cat named Thomasina and four dogs, Cassie, Missy, Callie, and Emmie. She enjoys fishing, motorcycling, grilling, campfires, and spoiling her “furry kids.”
Dr. Andrea Widdel
Dr. Andrea Widdel is originally from Grand Forks, ND. She graduated with Honors and a Bachelors of Science in Wildlife Management from the University of North Dakota in 2002, and received her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from the University of Minnesota in 2010. She and her husband Nick enjoy the outdoors together with their two daughters. They spend a great deal of time upland bird and waterfowl hunting.
Dr. Brandi Lahn
Dr. Brandi Lahn comes from Marshall, MN. She graduated with her Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine from the University of Minnesota in 2010. Dr. Lahn completed a small animal internship at VCA Veterinary Specialty Center of Seattle. She has two cats; Fishstick & Captain Crunch. Her hobbies include spending time with family, hiking, running, and snowshoeing. She lives with her husband, Chris, and her sons Isaac & Ethan.
Dr. Danielle Hockenson
Dr. Danielle Hockenson is originally from Bemidji, MN. She completed her undergraduate studies at Bemidji State University and graduated with her Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine from the University of MN in 2011. She has a special interest in animal behavior issues. She has a cat named Paxton and five horses. She enjoys riding horse, hunting, fishing, and camping with her husband Adam and their new baby girl.
Dr. Brandi Johnson
Dr. Brandi Johnson received her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from the University of Minnesota in 2007. She obtained her Bachelor of Science in Wildlife Ecology from the University of Wisconsin in 2003. She previously practiced at mixed animal clinics in Hutchinson, MN and Grantsburg, WI. She shares her home with her husband Andy, a loveable pug named Sophie, and a mischievous tuxedo cat named Spencer. In her spare time you can find her kayaking, camping, cross-country skiing, or biking.
Dr. Janell Osborn
Dr. Janell Osborn is a graduate of the University of Minnesota. She owned and operated the St. Cloud Animal Hospital in St. Cloud, MN until 2008 when she opened a Holistic Clinic in the Little Falls area. In 2015 she started integrating 2 decades of medical practice into a diverse style of medicine. Dr. Osborn is certified in veterinary acupuncture and Tui-na form of medical massage and manipulation, and is a Reiki master practitioner of over 22 years. She has trained in photonics therapy, osteopathic manipulation, cranial-sacral and myofascial therapy. She has experience with eastern and western herbal therapies, essential oils, and Bach essences. She is a member of the AHVMA,VBMA,IVAS,AAVA, and AVMA. Her hobbies include snowshoeing and hiking/exploring, kayaking, playing flute, grandchildren time, local arts festivals, Qi Gong, and gardening or reading. She has a Golden Retriever named Mr. Watson Brown and two cats.
Dr. Jenny Perala
Dr. Jenny Perala is from Roseau, MN and graduated with honors from the University of Minnesota Duluth with a Bachelor of Science in Biology in 2009. Dr. Perala also graduated with honors and her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from Iowa State University in 2013. She lives with her husband, Rob, their toddler and new baby. She has a black lab mix named Minnie and two cats, Sheldor and Moonpie. She enjoys fishing, hunting, reading, and spending time with family and friends.
